Fun Ways to Teach Common Nouns to Young Learners
Teaching children to recognise and name the things around them starts with teaching nouns. In Nigeria’s lively and varied setting, grammar lessons can be made into interesting and practical activities. Organise a Noun Hunt around the Compound
Children learn best by moving around. Go with them on a walk around the school or the home area and ask them to touch and say the names of five objects. For instance, in a story where a girl is eating an apple in a garden, you could assign roles to the girl, the apple, and the garden. This kind of activity enables children to understand that nouns are always the characters and the settings in a story.

Stress the fact that each individual is a noun by playing a game in which you say out loud either “Boy”, “Girl”, “Man”, or “Woman” and get the children to point to someone who fits the description.
